Yan Lei is a Beijing-based artist and a rising star.  His artworks often begin with photographs, digitally reduced to a narrow color range to reveal their own artificiality. Yan Lei reconstructs and analyses images based on his everyday experiences, generally reflecting upon the relationship of the artist to an increasingly globalized art world. Yan Lei’s  large scale installation which makes use of cutting edge computational systems and networking technologies in order to reaffirm the artist’s notion of the artificiality of representation and the irrelevance of the image.
